Incorporating Art into a Sliding Door
The best thing about building a custom sliding barn door is that you can tailor it to your specific needs. Recently, we’ve had a few customers inquire about incorporating art into a sliding door. In one instance, art was cleverly used to hide a television and in another, a customer wanted to be able to keep a favourite art piece and install a sliding door.
Using Sliding Art to Hide
When we got an inquiry about what kind of hardware is needed to turn a painting into a sliding door, we were intrigued. A customer had a built-in niche that housed a television. They wanted a way to cover the television when it was not in use, and had the perfect painting, but didn’t know what kind of hardware they needed.
After understanding the dimensions of the niche and painting, we were able to find them the perfect hardware.
Incorporating Art into a Door
A customer recently got in touch with us asking if they could mount a piece of artwork on a sliding door. They had a beautiful peacock painting that they didn’t want to relocate, but also couldn’t stay on the wall if a sliding door was installed.
After discussing different options, we were able to build a door and ship hardware that would safely accept the additional weight of the painting, and offered some recommendations on how to properly attach the painting to the door.
We love being able to help customers turn their ideas into reality. If you have an idea for a sliding door, but need help with hardware, sizing or have any other questions, don’t hesitate to contact us. We’re available by phone during office hours and welcome your call!
